Florence’s Fifth Avenue are the two central
streets via Tornabuoni and via della Vigna
Nuova, the best places for the most
exclusive boutiques, leather goods and
stylish shoes. Here you can find most of
the internationally known Florentine
fashion brands such as Roberto Cavalli,
Gucci, Salvatore Ferragamo and Ermanno
Scervino.
The fashion addicted should definitely go to
The mall (Via Europa 8 - Leccio Reggello),
30 minutes drive from Florence, where
they will find discounted clothes, shoes,
bags and accessories from the top stylists’
past collections.
If you are interested in original gold or
silver jewellery, head for the Ponte Vecchio
and its tiny botteghe orafe (craftwork
shops). One of the most renowned is
Gioielleria Carlo Piccini (via Ponte vecchio,

shops, Florence is rich in open-air markets.
If you want to buy leather goods or clothes
go to the market of San Lorenzo, which is
located in the centre of the city, or to the
Market of the Porcellino which is sheltered
under the sixteenth-century Loggia del
Porcellino.

Airport
Florence’s Airport Amerigo Vespucci is
around 5 km from the centre. A special bus
called “Vola in bus” gets you into the city
centre (S. Maria Novella railway station) in
20-25 min. for 4 euro (from 6,00 to 23,30,

Local Traffic
The best way to get around the city is on
foot. The city centre is not very large and
is full of monuments and things to see. The
local transport company is Ataf
(www.ataf.net). The ticket costs 1 euro
(1,50 euro on board) and is valid for 60
minutes. You can get a 3 hours ticket (1,80
euro) or 24 hours travel card (4,50 euro).
